This recipe brings together tender mutton, juicy potatoes, and a rich, spicy gravy. Let’s dive into the details of this mouth-watering curry!

Ingredients

  • 500g Goat mutton, cut into pieces
  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 2 large onions, finely sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnishing)
  • Water as required

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker or large pan over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Sauté for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until soft and the oil separates from the masala.
  4. Add the mutton pieces to the pan. Fry the meat until it’s browned on all sides.
  5. Now, add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Stir well to coat the meat in the spices.
  6. Add the yogurt to the curry and mix it well. Let it cook for about 5-7 minutes.
  7. Add the chopped potatoes and 1-2 cups of water (depending on how thick or thin you want the curry). Stir to combine.
  8. Cover the pressure cooker and cook for 20-25 minutes, or until the mutton is tender and the potatoes are cooked. If using a regular pot, cover and simmer for 45 minutes or until tender.
  9. Once the curry is cooked, open the lid and check for seasoning. Adjust salt if necessary.
  10. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  11. Serve hot with steamed rice or naan. Enjoy your delicious Goat Mutton Curry with Aloo!
