Singapore Chicken by Chef Priya
Chef Priya: "Singapore Chicken is a vibrant, flavorful dish that combines the best of Asian spices and ingredients. It’s perfect for anyone who loves a good stir-fry with a mix of savory, sweet, and spicy flavors. Let's get cooking!"
Ingredients:
- 500g boneless chicken (cut into bite-sized pieces)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1-inch ginger (finely chopped)
- 2 green bell peppers (sliced)
- 1 red bell pepper (sliced)
- 1 carrot (julienned)
- 1 small onion (sliced)
- 1-2 green chilies (sliced, optional for extra heat)
- 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce
- 1 tbsp vinegar (rice vinegar preferred)
- Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (for thickening)
- Water as needed
Steps:
Chef Priya: "Start by marinating the chicken. In a bowl, add 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp oyster sauce, and 1 tbsp hoisin sauce. Coat the chicken pieces with the sauce mixture and let it sit for 15-20 minutes to absorb the flavors."
Chef Priya: "Next, heat vegetable oil in a large pan or wok. Add the marinated chicken and stir-fry until the chicken turns golden brown and is cooked through. This should take about 5-7 minutes."
Chef Priya: "Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the pan and set it aside. In the same pan, add sesame oil and sauté the garlic and ginger until fragrant."
Chef Priya: "Now, add the sliced bell peppers, carrot, onion, and green chilies to the pan. Stir-fry the vegetables for 2-3 minutes, making sure they remain crisp and vibrant."
Chef Priya: "Add the cooked chicken back into the pan. Stir in the sweet chili sauce, remaining soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Stir everything well to combine the flavors."
Chef Priya: "To thicken the sauce, dissolve 1 tbsp cornstarch in a little water and add it to the pan. Let the mixture cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens."
Chef Priya: "Finish off by garnishing with fresh coriander leaves and a sprinkle of sesame seeds for that perfect touch."
Chef Priya: "Serve this delicious Singapore Chicken with steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal. Enjoy the perfect blend of spicy, sweet, and savory flavors!"
